Philosophy
Every Curtis frame is made to order in Somerset, England, fillet-brazed by hand to individual customer specifications without middlemen or automated compromises.
About
Curtis Bikes is a historic British framebuilding workshop based in Somerset, celebrated for hand-crafting fillet-brazed steel bicycle frames since 1972. Renowned across BMX, dirt jump, enduro, downhill, and gravel disciplines, every frame is individually built to order from high-grade T45 and Reynolds steel tubing. Led by master framebuilder Gary Woodhouse, Curtis continues a 50-year legacy of uncompromised custom geometry and exceptional craftsmanship.
Founder Story
Brian Curtis, a prominent 1960s motocross racer who honed his metalworking skills at Rickman Motorcycles, established Curtis Bikes in 1972 to construct high-performance competition frames. After building motorcycle chassis for Honda and Yamaha, Brian turned his expertise to BMX and mountain bikes, pioneering fillet-brazed steel framebuilding. Veteran craftsman Gary Woodhouse joined in 1979 and continues to hand-fabricate every frame in their Somerset workshop today.
